Truth’s found in a baby born in Bethlehem. And yet — with all the practicalities and problems of daily life, we sometimes lose track of truth, either getting caught up in the moment, or dragged down to the valley — and maybe even think we don't have the luxury to stop and savor truth. The birth of Jesus presents a scene where everyone’s astir, the air abuzz with what the news of the shepherds might mean. But in the midst of all the speculation and celebrating, it says: "But Mary...kept all these things...and pondered them in her heart." Mary doesn’t get caught up in all the coming and going or, slip into the space of feeling sorry for herself and her family. Instead, she gives us a wonderful example of what it means to live with hope and peace in our present circumstances.
